In the news

Here’s a selection of articles where I have been quoted (and occasionally mis-quoted!)

06.11.13 – ‘El Millenial puede poner un destino de moda o arruinarlo’ - Interview with Hosteltur, Spain’s leading tourism news site. A slightly incongruous headline but the central message was that young people can make a destination fashionable and put it back on the map.

12.10.13 – Infografía: El poder del turismo joven - we provided Hosteltur with an infographic showing the power of youth travel. The core message here is that when the going gets tough, the young keep travelling.

05.08.13 – El turismo joven del siglo XXI se mueve por tres factores - In advance of the launch of New Horizons III I explained the three underlying trends that are driving youth travel in the 21st century.

14.06.13 – El turismo de estudios atrae a casi un millón de extranjeros - Spain’s recent advances in attracting language students to study Spanish is explored in this article by Hosteltur. I explain how tapping into this market can be valuable for many destinations in Spain, given that the language traveller is often prepared to travel out of season. Language learning also necessarily requires a high degree of interaction with a destination’s cultural scene, gastronomy, arts, events.. making the economic impact of the language study visitor even more profound.

29.01.13 – Turismo joven: de nicho a segmento estratégico para empresas y destinos  - Youth travel is no longer a niche. In fact it’s a key driver of innovation in the travel industry as a whole. My key message in this lengthy interview with Hosteltur at FITUR, Madrid’s annual international tourism fair.
